IN MOTION // CAMILLE HANNAH & SILVIA INSELVINI

The exhibition IN MOTION shows works by Camille Hannah (*1977 in Melbourne, Australia) and Silvia Inselvini (*1987 in Brescia, Italy). Both artists are characterized by their unique gestures.
Camille Hannah paints pictures with oil and polymer paints on Plexiglas, which in art-historical terms can be assigned to the technique of reverse glass painting. However, Hannah uses a completely abstract form of paint application and her color palette of soft earth tones, powdery pink and gold clearly stands out from tradition. She demands a perception of her art without objectification, subordination and essentialization. Instead, her artworks should be seen as a starting point for a new and more open way of looking at what is understood as a symbol / image of femininity.
Silvia Inselvini’s art also focuses on gesture, in particular the repetition of the same gesture over and over again. Inselvini brings various elements into an interplay: rhythm, gesture, repetition and the singularity of the tool – the link between them: Time. In almost infinite gestural repetitions of hatching, she applies ink from ballpoint pens to paper without gaps. The Notturni – artworks, which are mainly created at night, thus embody the incessant rhythm that forms infinity, the quintessence of time.
