With UNTITLED, Galerie Isabelle Lesmeister is showing an interplay of sculpture and mixed media by two gallery artists.
With his sculptures and sculptural installations, US artist Jeremy Holmes explores the contrasts between the abstract forms of curved wood and geometric, man-made spaces. His artworks encourage interaction between the viewer and the space and at the same time open up new levels of interpretation of wood as a material. Since the gallery was founded in 2010, there has been an intensive collaboration with the sculptor Jeremy Holmes. This has resulted in numerous exhibitions as well as installations in public spaces and international trade fair presentations in Europe, the USA, Canada and South Korea.
The Barcelona-based artist Ashwan often combines different media in his series of works and combines street art methods with classic art history techniques. For his works on paper and canvas, he refers to the palimpsest technique of antiquity. Due to a lack of writing material, papyrus was used several times by wiping off existing texts and rewriting the material. This led to many pale layers of writing showing through. Using spray paint, silver and gold leaf, Ashwan creates works of multi-layered texts that are taken from the titles or verses of classic hip-hop songs.
