For this year’s edition of Regensburg Gallery Night, Lesmeister Projects is presenting an exhibition of works by Regensburg based artist Alexander Rosol (*1982) in a new location at Kohlenmarkt.
A recurring motif in Alexander Rosol’s work is the depiction of architectural and urban pictorial spaces, which creates visual disturbances through the deliberate introduction of irregularities, contrasts or disharmonies. The starting point of the works are photographs of urban and industrial architectural fragments, forms and structures by the artist, which form fictitious metropolitan landscapes and spatial compositions by means of digital image montage in a multitude of superimposed layers. Pictorial spaces are deconstructed and reassembled and rearranged in a multi-layered process. The combination and superimposition of various image fragments creates complex, multi-layered compositions that open up imaginative, utopian scenarios.
The compositions are painted using oil paint and spray varnish or printed on acrylic glass panels and arranged in light boxes. By breaking up conventional notions of space and playing with perspectives, visionary landscapes are created that stimulate reflection on future urban developments and social structures.
The artist is present.
