Hannah Schemel was born in 1994 in Bühl, Germany. The artist works between Enzklösterle in the Black Forest, Germany and Milan, Italy.
In Schemel’s photographs, landscapes are understood as a construct, a “creative act” shaped by the viewer’s own memories, dreams, experiences, and fears. The detailed photographs of the landscapes surrounding her are the result of intensive observation and research, which help the artist to develop a sensitive and personal view and feeling for her subject. The artist transfers her photographs onto handmade paper using a platinum-palladium mixed technique.
Schemel’s works have been exhibited in Germany, Slovenia, Austria, and Switzerland, among other places.
