Andreas Amrhein is a cosmopolitan and storyteller par excellence. Born in Marburg in 1963, he grew up in Liberia/West Africa, studied fine arts in Berlin, London, Malmö and Chicago. At the HdK Berlin he studied with the painter and graphic artist Walter Stöhrer and graduated with him as a master student.
In his complex figurative visual vocabulary, Andreas Amrhein combines daily elements and advertising culture in an unconventional manner, which contradict and complement each other at the same time. His works are significantly inspired by literature, film and comics and by the examination of the clichés of different cultures.
