Galerie Isabelle Lesmeister is presenting the first comprehensive solo exhibition by Hungarian artist Angelika Tóth (*1977 in Vác, Hungary). With the title “Nymph, Unseen”, the exhibition shows expressive landscape paintings and subtle ink drawings that question the boundary between reality and myth.

In “Nymph, Unseen”, Tóth plays with the tension between powerful application of paint and subtle, almost meditative lines. For the artist, the “inner path of painting” is characterized by conscious seeing and abstract grasping of the scenes. Her painting moves between expressive, dynamic compositions and impressionistic echoes, which are nevertheless unmistakably located in the present. These are landscapes that do not so much depict as make the invisible tangible – places where nymphs are not seen but felt.

Angelika Tóth has been firmly anchored in the program of Galerie Isabelle Lesmeister since 2010. After countless group exhibitions at the gallery and successful presentations at international art fairs in the USA and Canada, this is now her first major solo exhibition in Regensburg.
