Barbara Sophie Höcherl

Barbara Sophie Höcherl was born in 1983 in Wörth an der Donau, near Regensburg, Germany.
She lives and works in Hengersberg, near Regensburg, Germany.

Barbara Sophie Höcherl is a multidisciplinary artist. In her work series Aves, for example, the artist brings together what may not initially seem to belong together: she combines real birds of different species to create sculptural mythical creatures, thereby revealing the gap between man and animal, cruelty and beauty and a spectrum of emotions that open up when we look at them. In her series Abberation, on the other hand, she creates scannograms in which the image of birds is distorted by movement.

In 2020, Höcherl won the City of Regensburg’s Cultural Promotion Prize for her artistic work.
