Rainer Fetting was born in 1949 in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
At first he completed a practical apprenticeship as a carpenter, but at the same time he became acquainted with the dazzling world of art during an internship with the stage designer of the Landesbühne Niedersachsen Nord.
Rainer Fetting’s first artistic focus was on creating Berlin city scenarios, painting figuratively with bright colors, creating portraits, and dealing with the Berlin Wall.
Fetting became one of the promoters of the artistic revolution of the 80s; he played a very important role in the success of the “Neue Wilde” and created an extensive pictorial and sculptural work of German modernism, focusing on the human being and his living space.
