no HARMONY

We cordially invite you to the opening of the upcoming exhibition no HARMONY.
An introduction will be given by Dr. Isabelle Lesmeister in talk with the artists.

The exhibition no HARMONY shows selected works by the Regensburg artist Barabara Sophie Höcherl (* 1983 Wörth a.D.) and the Zurich artists Markus and Reto Huber (* 1975 Münsterlingen, Switzerland), twins who have been working as the artist duo Huber.Huber. since 2005.

Höcherl’s works are primarily sculptural and installative in practice and attempt to explore boundaries in terms of form, material and aesthetics. She plays with the balance between organic and inorganic elements, natural building blocks and materials from our materialistic consumer society.

Huber.Huber work conceptually in the form of collages, photographs and drawings, sculptural works and installations. “Our works have several levels, the first can be quite harmless and calm, but when viewed over a longer period of time this then changes – usually radically. The seemingly harmless suddenly seems irritating, the familiar is questioned. What appears idyllic or fairytale-like suddenly borders on the abysmal,” say Reto and Markus Huber.

The compilation of the artists’ multi-layered works appears narrative, fairytale-like and mystical. But in fact, the art here is a head-on collision with the idyll. The viewer is challenged to make a considerable effort of his own in deciphering the enigmatic statements and the material used.
